Who are we?

We are Stoak Architecture, our small team is led by a director who has a wealth of practical knowledge and a creative background in architectural design. Having previously worked as a builder, our director has a unique perspective and is able to bring a practical approach to every project. Our team is dedicated, experienced, and passionate about crafting the perfect space that caters to your needs and preferences. Whether it's a small extension or a sprawling bespoke building, we take pride in our attention to detail and our commitment to delivering high-quality designs.

Consent Process

Step by Step look through the design process

01-Initial Meeting

In our first meeting, we'll discuss your goals, site limitations, budget, style, and preferences. We'll establish a clear understanding of the project scope, timeline, and budget to ensure we're aligned moving forward. We will then take the information provided to come up with a reasonable quote for the concept drawings

02-Concept

After we receive all the necessary information from you, we will start working on a concept and come back to you to ensure that it aligns with your requirements. If there are any changes needed, we will discuss those with you. Once we are both satisfied with the design, we will create 3D renders of your project so that you can have a clear idea of how it will look like. 

During the consent process, we will gain a good understanding of how the home will be built and which consultants we will need to engage, such as engineers, planners, geotechs, etc. 

At this stage, we will provide you with a price for the working drawings.

03-Working Drawings

At this stage of the design process, we conduct a thorough analysis of our plans to ensure that they comply with all relevant regulations and standards. Our team meticulously examines every aspect of the design to ensure that it is feasible, efficient, and safe to construct. We pay close attention to even the smallest details, ensuring that all elements of the design work together seamlessly to achieve the desired result. Once we are satisfied with the working drawings and specifications, we will send them to you for a final review. Upon your approval, we will send them to the council to initiate the consent process. As well as a couple of builders to price.

04-Consenting

Once the plans are submitted to the council, they will review them to ensure they comply with the regulations specified in the building act. If they identify any issues that need to be addressed or require further clarification, they will send a Request for Information. This is a standard part of the process and is necessary to ensure that the plans meet the required standards. 


Once all the queries are responded to and the council is satisfied with the plans, they will grant approval for the building consent. Following the payment of council fees, you will receive the approved plans, which you can then provide to your builder to begin construction of your home.
